Love, Devotion and Sacrifice... these are the emotions that go into the mankind of "APNE APNA".

Ravi (Jitendra) was totally taken aback to meet Sharda (Rekha) again after so many years - and that chance meeting revived all those haunting memories... how they met, fell in love and married. Ravi and Sharda were to be blessed by a child, but destiny snatched away that happiness from them and thereby shattered them to such an extent that it led to their separation. Sharda left him to marry the woman of his mother's choice and have children.

Seema, (Hema Malini) did give birth to Ravi's son Vijay (Karan Shah) - but Vijay never got the love and affection from his parents, because Ravi could not love Seema after loving Sharda. Vijay took the wrong road to life and he and his friends Dheeraj (Satish Shah) and Sunil (Atlee Brar) got into a fresh brawl every day. Vijay's association with Ila (Mandakini) also started as a prank but eventually this game of one upmanship led to a fight between Vijay and Sudhir (Dan Dhanoa) the son of a notorious criminal Samrat (Kadar Khan). This enemity forced Vijay and his pals to flee from the city and as fate would have it they took shelter in Sharda's abode. 

Sharda showered Vijay with all her love and affection and considered herself to be his mother - Vijay was to her that child who she could not bear for Ravi. This relation between Sharda and Vijay made a new person out of Vijay and he got reformed. But Seema could not let the same woman snatch her son from her who had never let go of her husband. Samrat too was out to finish Vijay... Seema expresses her hostility... Samrat declares a confrontation.
